Learning at Ecole Jean Jacques Rousseau/French School of Austin

Through immersive and bilingual education and a rigorous academic curriculum, Ecole Jean Jacques Rousseau (the French School of Austin) helps all students to reach their unique potential. Children engage in inquiry-based learning and hands-on projects with the guidance of qualified teachers, who target learning to their students' individual needs and interests.

The school offers an advanced French curriculum, which can lead to completion of the French Option of the International Baccalaureate. Students also have the option to pursue an American program that prepares students for high-level secondary study in English speaking schools, while also benefiting from French language and cultural learning.

Largely thanks to the artistic background of its founders, Dr. Hind Louali and Sonia and Mohammed Louali, the school also features a rich performing and visual arts program. Each student attends mandatory private violin or cello lessons as well as group classes, both of which lead to recital opportunities. All students also participate in music appreciation and have the option of adding guitar, piano, and voice instruction taught by visiting instructors.

Following the visual arts curriculum set by France's Ministry of Education, the school teaches all students to interpret, appreciate, and create art works. The school features options for theatrical study and performance, Mrs. Sonia Louali being a certified drama instructor.
